Pillow

July 2018

Mixed Media Installation

The emotional attachment of human being towards an object is a kind of inborn nature. Most of the children would love to adhere to a comfort object as a maternal substitute. It is also a physical representation of intimacy. A pillow would deform according to the posture of its user and this process resembles moulding.

The artist extracted the pattern from famous Indonesian Batik fabric and inlaid the lines on the ceramic works. The fluidity of melting glaze enables uncertainty towards those patterns yet they would still be seen.

Rest on the pillow to hear a story seemingly echoing the batik dress. No one knows if it is just a coincidence.
